Semi Rimless glasses are also called half rim eyeglasses as the frame is only on the top part of the lenses. The lens may be notched to hold the lens in place or a piece of monofilament nylon line secures them in place around the bottom of the lens in a groove. Other variations of the half-rim eyeglasses version, known as browline glasses, are the frame less bottom part with only the upper portion of the lens were secured by heavy duty hinges attached to a sturdy or flexible temples. Another type secures and hold the lens using magnetized nose bridges and arches making it look virtually frameless. But all quality features of the rimless version are also the quality features of the Semi-Rimless Eyeglasses. Half-rim glasses can be made with antireflective coatings, Vantage polarized, photochromic lenses treatments to block 100% ultraviolet rays.
